Vampire Weekend

I feel like I heard somewhere that New Moon opens in theaters today. And though I haven't yet fallen prey to the blood-sucking powers of teen vampires, I can still sink my teeth into their moody, ethereal look. After all, who isn't lured by satiny skin, just-bitten lips, and deep, smoky eyes? Check out some of these Twilight-inspired beauty products to recreate your own haunting style.

Beauty Fast Lane

My daughter's recent arrival has naturally flipped my life upside down. Showers are now franticly squeezed in during nap time, and professional blowouts are a distant memory. Still, I haven't given up on myself completely. Here, a list of products that have helped me feel presentable throughout the first month of motherhood. Use them if you've got a new baby, a new job, new boyfriend, or anything else robbing you of precious beauty sleep.

1. Aside from occasional use on long-haul flights, I've never been a devotee of facial wipes. But Olay's Daily Facial Express Wet Cleansing Cloths (above right) have changed my mind. One swipe completely removes all traces of makeup while leaving skin hydrated, so I don't feel too guilty skipping moisturizer before collapsing into bed.

2. Who says being a mother means you can't be fancy? La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Body Emulsion cream sits proudly on my bathroom counter so I remember to slather some over my legs and belly daily (the caviar-infused formula firms and tones).

3. A dab of Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream instantly smooths and depuffs while absorbing quickly so I can still layer on the concealer.

4. I don't even think of touching my newborn without using EO Liquid Hand Sanitizer. Great for eager-to-hold guests as well.

5. Butter London Handbag Holiday Cuticle Oil's chemical-free formula heals hangnails and makes my unmanicured hands look polished in seconds.

Anthropologie Major

While trolling the web for some fresh home accessories, I came across Anthropologie's suprisingly extensive candle collection. Decorative pillars and votives from lesser-known brands such as English Eccentrics, Ruffian, and Skeem effortlessly scent rooms while giving off a quirky, indie vibe that says "I like nice things, but I'm still a nonconformist." My favorite? Tatine Le Vieux Monde soy wax candle in Marie (at right), a feminine, boudoir-appropriate blend of jasmine, rosewood, and gardenia housed in an etched, vitange-y container that will make a chic vase or pencil holder later. Consider your holiday gift shopping done.

In the Clear

Here's a reason to forgive yourself for that "deviated septum": Scientists have discovered that a clear complexion is more important than facial symmetry in determining one's attractiveness. In one experiment, researchers found that onlookers were more likely to avert their eyes when shown images of men and women with a splotchy, uneven skin tone. The study implies that humans are drawn to those with spotless complexions because they radiate good health, a key factor in reproduction. To erase your own trouble areas, try La Roche Posay Mela-D Serum, which is formulated with darkness-reducing ingredients such as kojic and glycolic acids.

Brangelina for Asprey

What unauthorized bio reporting trouble in paradise? Power couple Brangelina couldn't be more united, and are so busy with their latest creative venture—a capsule jewelry collection for luxury British company Asprey—they haven't a care in the world. Except, perhaps, for all those children suffering from war and natural disasters. Proceeds from the line, called "The Protector," will benefit the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, a charity co-founded by Jolie herself. Pitt will lend his goldsmithing talents (he famously designed ex Jennifer Aniston's wedding band) to the snake-inspired pieces, which will, of course, include baby gifts like silver spoons and egg cups starting at $525 a pop. Though the publicity-shy couple has refrained from comment on their latest non-genetic collaboration, Jolie has said of her charity, "These are the children who most need a safe place to learn."

Choo-se Wisely

When Stella McCartney and Matthew Williamson lent their inimitable, Brit girl party style to main street chain H&M, they inspired more cat fights than a Jimmy Choo sample sale. Now Choo himself is teaming up with the democratic fashion source, with a line of sexy accessories—think thigh-high boots, studded sandals, and sequined gloves and scarves—that hits stores tomorrow. Get in line early to start holiday shopping, and don't forget to sharpen your talons to fend off equally hungry competitors.

Mother Load

Few experiences in life are as unglamorous as giving birth. Unless, that is, you happen to a patient at New York-Presbytarian Hospital, which appears to take its tony Upper East Side address very seriously. Parting mothers are treated to a very special delivery from Chanel—a chic, reuseable grab bag (at right) filled with luxe pick-me-ups like a 35ml bottle of Chance perfume, 4 Fleurs eye shadow quad, and Rectifiance Intense Eye Retexturizing Line Correcting Eye Cream. Nothing like a pair of double C's to make you feel even more like a woman.
